Attach the Enemy - Aaron Ruin: News
Unveil & Release - June 21, 2008
The second CD is now titled "Unveil and Release." I decided this title was best for details I'll go into probably on the inner side of the CD case (when it's made). I'm still recording away. I put some new songs up on myspace and when the CD is finished, I'll have short clips up on here too. For now, visit my myspace page for new songs and maybe even cherry bubblegum.
Things have been going pretty well with the recording so far. I'd like to make a quick note about all the songs that are 'caught in between' Occam's Razor and this new CD. I have a lot of unreleased songs beginning to pile up, acoustic or otherwise. When I get them all recorded, I was thinking of releasing a mini-CD on the side, titled "Occam's Razor's lost causes."
No, I don't mean the songs are lost causes really, but unfortunately, you can only fit so many songs on a CD and some of them had to be cut. When I get decent versions of these songs up and recorded, I'll either make this "mini-CD" and sell it for 5$ or I could possibly end up giving them away for free or have free downloads on the website for people to keep, depending on how well Unveil and Release sells. Wow that was almost a run-on sentence. Actually, it kinda' is. Anyway.
I'm quite happy that I've been able to record through June. Over the past couple of years, I've developed allergies that last about one month out of the summer and usually that would mean no singing for me. But I've been lucky, not sounding all nasal and sick. like, "id's killin be...da end of de robe" hahahahah. That was hilarious.
So yeah. Comfort. - June 11, 2008
Wowzers.
Let's just say things are half-recorded currently. You can check out a couple of tasty tidbits on Myspace at
www.myspace.com/attachtheenemy/
I've been working pretty hard at the new material. It's on a 'while-i-can' basis. So when I got the time, I strive to provide.
But let's not mess around. The facts are I'm adjusting things everyday for the next CD and I'll put every drop of blood, sweat and tears into it. Guaranteed.
What else could I say.
A sustainable amount of anger - June 5, 2008
Greetings. Whatever.
I am currently -in RECORDING-. The light is officially on. I'm aiming for a 10-track CD. Duration unknown. But, 10 well-done tracks nonetheless, filled out. As was part of the original plan, I wanted the first CD to be personal and ragged. I think I accomplished that. And now that I've captured your attention, the progression will hopefully stay on incline. I have a lot of surprises with the new CD and I aspire to remain consistent in this manner.
As time passes, I hope to shuffle up the myspace song list with some new songs as soon as they get properly recorded. Until then... keep writhing.
(clever, hey?)
Sun flavor - April 7, 2008
Again, it's been awhile since I've posted any "news" but I can assure you that's on account of very little happening and not just pure laziness of keeping this site in check. School's kept me fairly busy and I haven't had any time to record any new stuff. I have, however, been working on new material when I get the chance. I suspect that the next CD will be noticeably different than the first but that has more to do with the fact that it won't be just an acoustic and vocal CD. I anticipate a fuller sound and also possibly releasing some older tracks.
As summer approaches, I gather I'll have more time to consider doing some local live shows, although I don't necessarily plan on doing them all solo-acoustic.
I aspire to make a live show DVD before the fall but it's all speculation at this point. I'm rounding up some talented individuals who will be thickening the sound up, a little more.
I'm actually in the market for some people who have experience with orchestral-type instruments. That means you, violinists and cello players. So get in touch if that interests you.
Quite surprisingly, I've had little difficulty finding mostly the right people to share this with. But, as before, time will reveal how much progress will actually be made.
I know I mentioned how a lot of things were underway before whatwith making a mini-music video and adding youtube videos. A lot of projects are either half-finished or I just haven't had the time to start. And sometimes it's hard to divide up the time properly as I seem to have a diverse amount of interests. But that doesn't matter; expect things to fall in place over the next couple months. As for me, I will eat a carrot, in solitude.
Remember the cold this December - December 11, 2007
I haven't updated this in a while. Let's blame it on school and other things. What can you do..?
It's been hard to sit down and write some new stuff on account of it but now that I'm on holidays, I'll be able to record some new stuff that's creeped into my head since Occam's Razor. At this point, I expect a slight change in the music, scaling to the next logical evolutionary step. Post-Occam's Razor music will have a fuller sound meshing acoustics with electronica. Maybe.
I haven't uploaded any videos or anything yet or have worked on much lately. As noted on the main page, the CD can be bought online now so for those of you who are far away, the process for obtaining it is a lot simpler (and plus, I don't have to ship anything out anymore.)
So enjoy. I'm going to crawl back in my shell now, make some music, sleep and record, all the while being drunk with power.
ATE CD Release "Get-Together" - October 9, 2007
Thanks to all who came. It was verra' nice. I will put some pictures up on MySpace soon from Saturday night! So in a week or so, check out the MySpace for pictures and possibly some video clips of Kevin and I singing like it was 1567 (when Kevin was born, coincedentally).
To all those who still haven't bought a CD, do it, do it now. I have some great news. Well... first, I'm sorry, the CD is not available on CDBaby or Amazon yet. But I was talking to the producer of Brackish over at
Mad Angel Films and you can now order the Occam's Razor CD off the website's online store! So for those of you who haven't bought it yet from across the land, here is your first chance. To make this more spectacular, you can buy BRACKISH AND OCCAM'S RAZOR TOGETHER for a discounted price. Wowzers. Go check it out at
http://store.madangelfilms.com
I will be sending out an update to everyone on my mailing list about when I get more things together SO make sure you signed up on it so you don't miss out on anything else.
Occam's Razor - September 28, 2007
Official release day. Ahhh yea'. Excellent. Get a hold of me however you want to buy the CD for 15$.
Do it, do it. Pre-ordering is a lot easier for me than whimsically selling.
What the fuck are you waiting for? Buy the CD.
Who's Penelope? - September 24, 2007
She's Hugo's girlfriend in Hugo's house of horrors. Don't you remember?
The CDs have arrived. This means those of you who are local can buy them locally.
As for purchasing them online... you'll have to wait until the official release day ish. CDBaby will be selling them first. Amazon will take a little longer. And if you planned on just buying the mp3s (like off itunes, msnmusic or y!music), then you'll have to wait like a month.
But if you are in a rush for a CD like I want you to be, get a hold of me -now-. At 15$ a CD, I'll send you the CD with free shipping but this only applies until the online method of purchasing them is up and running. So. Hop up on that pony. And we'll figure out forms of payment.
The CD turned out a slight different than I expected but I knew color variations on the computer would differ from the physical CD artwork a bit. Oh well, lesson learned in the future if I ever want something to be exact. The paper used for the cd artwork is not glossy, more like a matte... it feels really smooth, you can rub it on your face and enjoy the sensation.
Also, the t-shirts I ordered locally are almost all gone. Which means, if you wanted one, you're either going to have to wait until I have a good enough reason to order a new shipment or pick what's left of the remaining sizes, which I think are large and medium.
There are BANNERS in the Photos section to display up on your lovely websites/myspaces/blogs/facebooks. Do it. Do it quickly...
Last but definitely not least, there is now a PRESS section added to the menu. It will hold all press release and testimonial-type stuff related to everything Attach the Enemy. From singular song reviews to full CD reviews, they will be posted there. Très exciting.
Thy Unveiling - September 19, 2007
Enemies,
The Occam's Razor CD is on its way through production and will be released on Friday, September 28th. If you know me personally, you can get it from me or select stores in London (such as Speed City Records, BestBuy (have to order it in) and a bunch of other stores I don't even know the names of yet). If you're anything other than local, you'll have to buy the CD online. By the end of the following release week, it will be available to buy from several online locations. So far, the ones I know of are Yahoo! Music, Itunes, Amazon, CDBaby, MSNMusic and maybe some others I am again, not familiar with.
For these reasons alone, you should make some space on your credit cards or paypal accounts.. and buy it!
Clear?
Cryyyyyystal, sir, yes sir.
Lead poisoning: 1 Aaron: 0 - August 30, 2007
Ah. Just a couple of things to cover. Everything is all building up slowly in their own ways... preparing the ultimate unleash of fury! In layman's terms, I've been doing a variety of things in a variety of fashions in no variety of time.
First off, about the CD. I mean it this time when I say the CD is going to be made very soon. Everything is in place, and one final adjustment was made; two added songs to the CD. The music samples for them are up as well as "The Writhing" currently being featured on ATE-myspace. In duration, the CD is approximately one hour. Not bad for acoustic (with -TEETH-).
The album artwork is nearly finished. Some "promo pics" are now in the pictures section. I don't know what I mean by "promo". It's not like it's the pictures that are being promoted. If I look like I'm hurting, I was. I was verra' sick. But anyway, the album artwork is nearly finished; I used some of my minor photography skills mixed in with a little bit of my creepy skills to design the ultimate ATE cover! I love it like it was one of my babies hatching from its demon spawn pod. In the 5th ring of Hell.
My experimental "Die another Day" song was completed a week ago. It is electronica/industrial/metal meets Aaron. The mp3 itself is not currently available for distribution but I finished making the music video for it a couple days ago; just need to assemble all the footage together.
I've also been recording the odd cover; they will all be released on YouTube and myspaceVideo when they are simultaneously ready.
Locally, I've ordered some *new* ATE t-shirts. For those of you in the area, you should buy them. They will be sold for 20$ even. Again, I'm not making any profit off of the clothing. That strictly covers the cost of buying/making the t-shirt.
All in all... expect good things coming your way. Lots and lots of content and things to do and see and buy.
And I don't want to speak too soon... but... expect to buy the Occam's Razor CD... in early October!
Brackish Brackish Brackish - August 17, 2007
And
Brackish. That's you... That's what YOU look like.
I do have some additional ADD-ON miscellaneous sideline extra supplementary news to rant about...! First off, the last show. We had way too many problems with sound EQ and that was highly disappointing; everything was last minute, as usual, which should never happen by now. But oh well. The cons of the show: my set got cut in half and it wasn't recorded. The pros: We (Hindsight) rocked! Well, mostly. And some songs turned out better than expected. Musta' been a good singing day... a much appreciated thanks goes out to several of the PILOTS of Dawn for filling in on our acoustic set. As for Attach the Enemy, four songs were played. House of Tragedy, Killing Me, Angels in Headlights and Chaotic Fairytale.
Okay, onto other stuff. As mentioned before,
Brackish is the film which will be featuring
'All There Is'. It will awesomely be the opening song. Word on the street is that the premiere will be in early September but PRE-ORDERS for dvds start THIS Sunday. So you know what that means... you've checked out the trailer. Read the Brackish blog. You're excited. Right? 15$ is like ordering a large 3 topping pizza. So come Sunday, instead of ordering out, go hungry or make grilled cheese and order the movie. It's all on their website, don't make me stress it anymore than I have to, fuck. That really about covers it for now.
Blood all over it - August 1, 2007
Well the show on July 28th was the first show in awhile, and it went fairly well. I was hoping to have my set recorded so I could throw it up on the myspace/youtube but it unfortunately didn't work out - maybe next time! We didn't know what to expect for the 'battle of the bands' because some people didn't show and by the end, it was going to look more like just a straight-up set after set with a sort of 'open-mic' thing at the end. I wasn't feeling right about the evening the whole day but eventually, you just get up there and do what you have to do... and it turned out fairly well. I have higher expectations for the next show.
Anyways I have a couple of things to announce which I find pretty exciting. First off, I'll eventually have a segment running on YouTube for Attach the Enemy stuff; everything ranging from videos of shows/randomness and ATE cover songs. I'm not a HUGE fan of playing cover after cover like some people are inclined to do, but sometimes you find a song where you just want to play it yourself. When the time is right for that, I'll announce it and you guys can check it out.
Lastly, I received word from a small film company, Mad Angel Films, that they would like to use one of my songs for the up-and-coming movie titled 'Brackish'. The horror flick, I believe is in post-production and you can check out the trailer and other works done by them at
http://www.madangelfilms.com - as far as I know, the song 'All There Is' will be featured somewhere throughout the film. If you haven't heard the song, check it out on my myspace. There'll be more information posted about this when I know.
A noteworthy conclusion - July 21, 2007
It's been a long time since December. I just have to say, I have some really good news.... My acoustic concept CD has finally been completed. At a whopping 15 tracks, I can say I'm satisfied with it
enough to finally get it made. What I had been struggling with for what felt like forever was the simple notion that the lines would be blurred when it comes to what I actually wanted to say with this CD. I feel that I've finally 'achieved' what I set out to do so many months ago. Some songs had to be sacrificed... but new ones have been added in spite of that. As far as I'm concerned, the CD has conceptualized contradiction, hopefully capturing the hot/cold rough/smooth versatility that I wanted from the start. That is to say, I wanted a distinct amount of versatility in which the songs were presented. I, of course, can always hear the flaws ...and there are a great deal of them surely... but I'm willing to let those go because I think the overall tone of this compilation will make up for it. The new (and final) track listings are as followed:
- (And We)
- Enemy
- House of Tragedy
- Congested
- Killing Me
- Chaotic Fairytale
- Up & Run
- The Writhing
- Letting Go
- Naughty Bee
- Today
- Disappointed
- Angels in Headlights
- All There Is
- God
Eat THAT for breakfast. Anyway. I currently do not have the final versions of some songs up on myspace. However, still check them out and if you want, you can always listen to the music samples of the new songs on this website to your left. ----> Enjoy. And thanks for being patient. It won't be long now..
Analyze every Cut - May 30, 2007
Although not too many updates have been happening so far, I'm still working on putting out a CD but I decided "Occam's Razor" will have a different playlist... thus, certain songs will be released freely whereas never before. I have been making all kinds of music in my head and have decided to blend what I feel is my most accomplished material onto one CD. I think this is the best move because it'll give those certain songs of mine some breathing room to possibly develop into something fuller... or maybe they'll just become forgotten...
Over time, what I've come to realize about my music is the insecurity meshed within it. I'm as thrilled about the new material as much as I am disappointed in it.
Years to come - February 22, 2007
Whoa. I have not updated this site in a while. Too many things have been going on I suppose. But an update is definitely in store...
First off, the CD has NOT been made yet. Some people are a little pissed about it and I am too. I assumed it would be out by December but unfortunately I've had other life obligations that have needed my attention. The past couple of months have been busy.
The good news is I've begun working on a second CD! Yes I move quickly. But really, when you have no one to work with except yourself, a guitar and lyrics, things can go by pretty quickly. I have contemplated time and time again to fill out the songs with more instruments but for some odd reason, the need to sing&scream against raw acoustics is still appealing to me. Maybe it's just because I can hear the rest of it in my head...
Four, possibly five songs are already done for the new CD. Needless to say, it's got a new vibe to it - everything always feels like it's just beginning. And in light of that, I am enjoying myself and have been satisfied with the results.
Expect more consistent updates in the future.
Pale-lemon mornings... - December 1, 2006
December is here!
Good news just in time for Christmas. You know, that time of year where you spend a ridiculous amount of money and regret it later because the people you bought gifts for didn't buy you anything or they got you some kind of pen that actually folds out into a, you know, screwdriver or something. Or you don't spend any money at all and instead execute the cheap-but-thoughtful method and make something homemade like cookies or baked beans... and again, all you get is a screwdriver that folds out into a, you know, pen or something....
The important part is that Attach the Enemy clothing has finally arrived! Check out the BUY section of the website and spend, spend, spend! No really, there is some cool apparel so start shopping and spend some scrilla on fantastic-quality clothing.
Climbing the ladder to Hell - November 27, 2006
Things are going pretty smoothly these days. I've made some minor adjustments to the site, but perhaps they were so insignificant that no one will notice. But I did improve it just a touch. ;) Also, the myspace page (
http://www.myspace.com/attachtheenemy ) has been updated in terms of design. I added Gabriel to the playlist. I suspect I'll change the order of the songs on there semi-frequently so always check there if you're interested in the full version. It's good to see I've developed a tight circle of ATE-fans. That's sexy. Hopefully it continues to grow steadily. Keep listening!
Spaceships are landing all the time - November 24, 2006
The beginning of Attach the Enemy has started. Fantastic. Here, everything music-related will be posted in a timely and organized fashion. But I might go off on a tangent every now and again about other things.
Currently, Occam's Razor is being tweaked and mastered, if not in a haphazard fashion, (you didn't expect perfect did you?) and will be produced soon. The CD will be available sometime in early December.
